‘Beef’ creator comments on Charles Melton hiring his mother for series<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<\/div>\nIt is said, \u201cThe apple does not fall very far.\u201d beef <\/i>Creator Charles Melton recruited his real-life mother for the series.<\/p>\n
talking with people magazine<\/i>Lee Sung Jin (Sonny) talked about Melton’s mother’s debut, saying, “She walked into that ADR (Automated Dialogue Replacement) booth and gave the performance of a lifetime.”<\/p>\n
“She was taking directions, she was changing, she was giving different levels. I said, ‘Oh, the apple doesn’t fall far,'” Sonny said.<\/p>\n
Talking about the cast as a whole, the producer said, “Most of all these are cast members who have humbly trusted us and are constantly giving us more and more fertile soil to create and grow the show,” adding, “It’s truly a gift.”<\/p>\n
What to expect from the second installment of ‘Beef’:<\/h2>\n
Season 2 of the anthology series will explore class divisions as well as American and Korean cultures, pitting recently joined country club employees Ashley, played by Cailee Spaeny, and Austin, played by Charles Melton, against their boss Josh and his wife Lindsay, played by Oscar Isaac and Carey Mulligan, respectively.<\/p>\n
The character is biracial, like the actor himself, with a Korean mother and a white American father. Sukyong and Phil Melton are also the parents of Melton’s two sisters, Patricia and Tammy.<\/p>\n
Melton told the outlet about his personal history and how it informed Austin, adding that Lee Sung Jin (Sonny) added the actor’s ability to be vulnerable with his own history and give the role depth and life.<\/p>\n<\/p><\/div>\n
