They sparked outrage after Iran quickly reversed its decision to reopen the Strait of Hormuz and opened fire on ships passing through the vital passage. He said angrily: “Iran decided to open fire in the Strait of Hormuz yesterday \u2013 this is a complete violation of our ceasefire agreement! Many of them were aimed at a French ship and a United Kingdom cargo ship. That was not good, was it? My representatives are going to Islamabad, Pakistan \u2013 they will be there tomorrow evening for talks.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n

Hours earlier, Iran had criticized the US blockade of its ports, calling it a “stupid and foolish decision” and demanding its withdrawal.<\/p>\n<\/p><\/div>\n
Iran yesterday swiftly reversed a decision to reopen the Strait of Hormuz and reimposed restrictions on the vital waterway, after the US said the move would not end its blockade.<\/p>\n
Mohammad-Bagher Ghalibaf, one of Iran’s chief negotiators, warned that if the US did not lift the blockade, “traffic in the Strait of Hormuz will definitely be restricted.”<\/p>\n
In a televised address, the speaker of Iran’s parliament also mentioned reversing its decision to reopen the Strait of Hormuz.<\/p>\n
Last night the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) navy said the Strait of Hormuz would remain closed until the US blockade of Iranian ports is lifted.<\/p>\n
