There was a time when I was totally into the idea that fragrances should be subtle. As a beauty editor, I get to try a lot of great perfumes, and over the past few years, I’ve noticed that my shelf was filling up with soft skin scents, cozy musks and barely-there mists that sit close to the skin and only make their presence known when one gets close. Perhaps the change came with motherhood, where it felt safer and easier to blend in rather than stand out. Also, I never liked that a strong scent would get on my little ones’ clothes and skin and mask the baby’s heady smell.<\/p>\n
However, lately, I’ve found that I want something different from my perfumes and have been exploring scents with a little more presence and intention. My children are not so young anymore, and as they grow up in independence, I long to return to my children. And though my inner confidence has wavered compared to a few years ago, I’ve always found that scent can act as a shortcut to faking it ’til you make it.<\/p>\n
