German central bank chief urges wider access to Anthropic’s Mythos AI models<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<\/div>\nGerman central bank chief Joachim Nagel has urged all institutions to access Anthropic’s artificial intelligence cloud Mythos AI, which aims to level the playing field and reduce the potential for abuse. <\/p>\n
The Bundesbank also issued a warning regarding the unprecedented cyberattacks generated by Mythos AI, which is able to identify critical vulnerabilities in various operational systems and web browsers. Therefore, all institutions should coordinate to prevent misuse of the powerful AI models available today. <\/p>\n
“Mythos is an AI model that appears to be able to quickly identify and exploit security vulnerabilities in financial institutions’ software,” Nagel said. <\/p>\n
“This AI model appears to be a double-edged sword, as it can be used not only to improve digital security systems, but also to take advantage of their vulnerabilities for malicious purposes. All relevant institutions should have access to such technology to avoid competitive distortions,” Nagel said at an event. <\/p>\n
According to Nagel, AI algorithms could also drive inflation by learning to charge excessive prices, without communicating with each other. <\/p>\n
Other financial institutions, such as the IMF and heads of reputable banking systems are also concerned about the growing threats posed by Mythos AI. Goldman Sachs CEO David Solomon also revealed that he is “highly aware” of the risks posed by Mythos AI. <\/p>\n
\u201cObviously LLMs are progressing rapidly and we are very familiar with the increased capabilities of these new models with the help of the US government and model publishers,\u201d Solomon said. <\/p>\n
Even the Anthropic CEO warned the world about the potential risks of the cloud mythos, particularly marked by sophisticated cyberattacks in the banking sector. And if misused, mythos could pose a serious threat to economies, public safety, and national security. <\/p>\n
