Lenovo is targeting May for a wider release, and the listing is in line with that window. When it arrives, it will be priced starting at $849, which is a significant jump from the Gen 3’s launch price of $549.

The surge in prices is hard to ignore. But the specs support it, at least on paper. The Lenovo Legion Tab Gen 5 is powered by the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 chip, paired with 12GB or 16GB of RAM and up to 512GB of storage. The 8.8-inch 3K LCD display runs at 165Hz, and Lenovo managed to cram a 9,000mAh battery into the same compact frame, while keeping the weight at 360 grams. It comes with Android 16, and Lenovo’s AI Engine+ handles things like in-game sound tuning, noise reduction for voice chat, and adaptive touch sensitivity. You also get dual USB-C ports and a folio case in the box.

Three color options have been confirmed: Eclipse Black, Glacier White, and Surge, a vibrant green.

An expensive follow-up to a fan favorite

If you have a Gen 3, you already know what this lineup is capable of. That tablet punched way above its price tag and filled a gap that most Android brands weren’t even trying to fill. The Gen 5 is clearly a big swing, and the $849 starting price reflects that.

Part of the cost increase comes from the ongoing memory supply crisis that is driving up prices across the industry. We covered the full spec sheet of the Gen 5 when Lenovo unveiled it at MWC in March, and since then Lenovo has removed the Gen 3 from its storefront entirely, leaving the Gen 5 as the only Legion Tab in the lineup. So if you were looking for a more affordable entry point, that option is now gone.

Lenovo has also been busy on the gaming hardware front, with the Legion phone making a comeback after a four-year hiatus. May is not far away.

Compact gaming tablets are a rare thing.
