Petition urges Sheriff’s Office to allow private investigative group to search for Nancy Guthrie<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<\/div>\n80 days have passed since Nancy Guthrie, an 84-year-old woman, went missing from her home near Tucson, Arizona.<\/p>\n
Since police have yet to produce any suspects in her disappearance, it appears that private citizens are taking matters into their own hands.<\/p>\n
In this regard, Charis “Pebbles” Wilson, a freelance journalist, started a petition calling on Sheriff Chris Nanos to allow help from the United Cajun Navy, a volunteer rescue group, and demanded their 41-page resolution.<\/p>\n
Wilson’s efforts came as she herself was suffering from similar pain.<\/p>\n
“I lost my frail grandmother a few years ago, and Nancy Guthrie’s disappearance tore my heart apart,” she tells Fox. <\/p>\n
With the number of signatures on her petition exceeding 600, Wilson says, “To know that someone took advantage of a lovely woman, an elderly woman like her, is really disturbing.”<\/p>\n
On the other hand, the Cajun Navy is ready to support the investigation to find Guthrie, whose proposal, shared a few days after Guthrie’s disappearance, would be under the Sheriff’s Office to search for Savannah’s mother.<\/p>\n
Josh Gill, who is the group’s incident commander, tells Fox, “We want permission from the lead agency. I don’t think there will be any harm; I think it will be one step closer to getting some degree of closure, not only to the family or the community, but to the nation.”<\/p>\n
However, the catch here is that the Pima County Sheriff’s Department (PCSD) has not yet given the green light to the Cajun Navy to be a part of the search and their 41 page proposal.<\/p>\n
With a massive $1 million reward in hand, Guthrie has yet to be found, and his mystery deepens.<\/p>\n<\/p><\/div>\n
