Today, I’m curious: What is your irrational fear? Why do you shudder whenever you think about it? What makes you want to turn in the opposite direction and run faster? My answer is simple…<\/p>\n

Lift. Gahhhh.<\/p>\n

I first wrote about my elevator phobia nearly two decades ago. Since then, I have absolutely lifted the *checks note*<\/em> 16 times \u2013 and that was only when the stairs were inaccessible. Otherwise, I’m happy to climb the stairs, no matter the destination. I once flew 33 flights to see a therapist. (“See how much I need you???” I said to her, panting when I arrived.)<\/p>\n

In France, I’ve seen some really teeny lifts. Here in Paris is my mother. And here’s a video I took from another one. Reader, we did not get in.<\/p>\n
