(Worthy News) \u2013 President Donald Trump issued a tough directive to the U.S. Navy on Thursday ordering the U.S. Navy to \u201cshoot and kill\u201d any ships attempting to lay mines in the strategically important Strait of Hormuz, signaling a sharp increase in enforcement amid ongoing tensions with Iran.<\/p>\n

In a post on Truth Social, Trump declared that he would have “no hesitation” in disabling small boats suspected of deploying naval mines. The directive comes as the US military continues active mine-clearing operations in the area, which the president said is now being scaled up to “three times the level”.<\/p>\n

The Strait of Hormuz remains one of the world’s most important maritime chokepoints, through which a significant portion of global oil shipments pass. The administration has effectively sealed the waterway as part of a broader pressure campaign aimed at forcing Tehran into a negotiated settlement.<\/p>\n

Trump’s announcement coincides with a fragile ceasefire, as the US awaits a unified peace proposal from the Iranian leadership through Pakistani mediators. Expressing his willingness to make time for talks, the President expressed frustration at internal divisions in Tehran, describing the ongoing infighting between so-called “hardliners” and “moderates”.<\/p>\n

Despite maintaining the ceasefire for the time being, Trump’s order underlines the instability in the region. Iranian forces have reportedly seized foreign vessels and continue to pose a threat through potential minelaying operations \u2013 one of the most disruptive tactics available in the narrow shipping corridor.<\/p>\n

The President emphasized that the US military currently has decisive control over the strait. “No vessel may enter or depart without the approval of the United States Navy,” Trump wrote, effectively keeping the waterway “tightly sealed” unless Iran agrees to terms that meet U.S. demands, including halting its nuclear ambitions.<\/p>\n

The developments reflect the high-stakes balance between military pressure and diplomatic outreach, as Washington seeks to force Tehran to the negotiating table while preventing further disruption to global commerce and regional stability.<\/p>\n
