Back in January, Apple confirmed that Google’s Gemini AI models will power the next evolution of Apple Intelligence, which is expected to be unveiled at the annual Worldwide Developers Conference this June. This should include a completely new Siri, and is expected to be introduced in iOS 27 and iPadOS 27 in the autumn.<\/p>\n
Now, Google has also confirmed that it is happening on stage during the Cloud Next 2026 conference, which is currently taking place in Las Vegas. Google Cloud chief Thomas Kurian said:<\/p>\n
Earlier this year, we announced an important partnership with one of the most iconic brands that will bring the power of our technology to users around the world. We are collaborating with Apple to develop the next generation of the Apple Foundation model based on Gemini technology as their preferred cloud provider. These models will now power future Apple intelligence features, including a more personalized Siri coming later this year.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n
So it’s pretty much settled now \u2013 Apple Intelligence will finally get smarter this year. The revamped Siri was initially expected to ship last year, then was delayed to this spring, but Apple apparently faced problems with accuracy. It’s unclear whether the Gemini models used by Apple will run on Google’s servers or use Apple’s private cloud compute instead. Of course, this should all become clear by early June, so stay tuned.<\/p>\n
