(Worthy News) \u2013 Israel’s Foreign Ministry is facing growing criticism after promoting a massive LGBTQ+ celebration this June on the shores of the Dead Sea \u2013 an area long associated in Biblical tradition with the destruction of Sodom and Gomorrah.<\/p>\n

The official government account on X announced the event with the slogan “Pride rises in the lowest place on earth”, which organizers call the largest LGBTQ+ gathering ever held in the Middle East. The four-day festival, called “Pride Land”, is scheduled for June 1-4 and is expected to transform a section of the Judean Desert into a temporary entertainment center.<\/p>\n

According to reports, the event will include 15 hotels, beach venues and a central area that will host continuous performances by leading Israeli artists. Organizers say the festival will operate as a 24-hour “city”, featuring family-friendly areas, workshops and activities for a wide range of attendees.<\/p>\n

Event producer Aaron Cohen described the project as unprecedented in scale, and emphasized the investment of millions to create a fully immersive experience in the desert. \u201cThis is not just another festival,\u201d Cohen said. “We’re building something that lives and breathes day and night.”<\/p>\n

However, the location has become a focal point of controversy, especially among Christian voices. The area south of the Dead Sea has traditionally been identified by many scholars and theologians as the site of the ancient cities of Sodom and Gomorrah, referred to in the Book of Genesis chapter 19 as places judged by God for widespread sexual immorality.<\/p>\n

Critics argue that holding a celebration of LGBTQ+ identity at such a venue has deep symbolic implications. Many people on social media expressed concern that the event represents not only a cultural shift but a direct insult to Biblical history. Some called it God’s “mockery”, while others saw it as evidence of increasing moral decadence in the modern age.<\/p>\n

The controversy comes as Israel works to revive its tourism sector amid ongoing regional tensions, particularly its conflict with Iran and allied groups. Despite security concerns, including a U.S. State Department advisory warning against travel to the region, officials appear eager to establish the country as a global destination for cultural and social events.<\/p>\n

For many believers, the comparison is surprising \u2013 an ancient site of divine judgment has now become the stage of modern celebration. The debate surrounding the “Pride Land” not only highlights cultural divisions, but also raises deep questions about the spiritual significance of biblical identity, national direction, and place in a rapidly changing world.<\/p>\n

So it will be on the day when the Son of Man is revealed” (Luke 17:28-30). Many teachers say that the contrast between normal daily life and the sudden judgment in that passage is striking in light of current events, pointing to a grave apocalyptic parallel that demands spiritual awareness and repentance.<\/p>\n
