In an incident last month, a 31-year-old man came up behind a woman working at a Central Coast Chick-fil-A, lifted a concrete brick above her head and, without warning, dropped it on her head, shattering it into pieces.<\/p>\n
Clayton Peavy, of Santa Maria, has been sentenced to seven years in state prison for the attack, according to the Santa Barbara County District Attorney’s Office.<\/p>\n
Peavy previously pleaded guilty to a felony count of assault with a deadly weapon and a special charge of assault occasioning serious bodily injury.<\/p>\n
The attack happened at 11:49 a.m. March 2 at the Chick-fil-A at 605 E. Bettervia Road in Santa Maria. The employee was taking orders in the drive-thru line when Peavy approached him from behind and attacked him with a brick.<\/p>\n
The woman used her hands to protect herself as Peavy continued to hit her with what remained of the brick before walking away.<\/p>\n
The victim “suffered multiple head injuries, required stitches, a concussion and a broken arm,” the Santa Barbara County district said. Atty. John T. Savarnoch said in a statement.<\/u><\/a><\/p>\n A spokesperson for Chick-fil-A did not immediately respond to a request for comment.<\/p>\n Joseph Hickox, owner and operator of Chick-fil-A restaurants, said KEYT-TV<\/u><\/a> At the time the employee was recuperating at home after being taken to the hospital.<\/p>\n “It was quite shocking,” he told the station. “We had a busy drive-thru at the time and there were a lot of people there and a lot of people saw what happened.”<\/p>\n
