– Romans 16:4<\/em>\n\t\t\t<\/p>\nWhat level of risk are you comfortable with? Do you want to invest your money in something that may yield good profits but also incur huge losses? Or would you like to keep your money safe in a bank?<\/p>\n
Priscilla and Aquila were two ministry associates of Paul, and we can find parts of their story in Acts 18. These two new creations, people who were united with Christ in faith and were becoming like Jesus, took on risky work in the name of protecting Paul and providing for him to more widely share the good news of Jesus. He was risk-tolerant when it came to spreading the gospel. They understood that risks taken in the name of Jesus were not worth the risk in the long run. This is because the future of all believers is secure in Christ.<\/p>\n
Paul was grateful for these two new creations. Because of Priscilla and Aquila’s faith-filled risk tolerance, the Gentile churches whom Paul was able to minister to were also grateful.<\/p>\n
I am also grateful. God made new creations out of these former unbelievers, and as new creations he showed us what it means to hold loosely to everything else except God.<\/p>\n
\n\t\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t\t\tDear Father, thank you for remaking Priscilla and Aquila through the Spirit of Jesus and calling them to work with Paul, taking risks to spread the gospel. As You rebuild us, turn our hearts in that direction too. In the name of Jesus, amen.
