A major security breach disrupted operations at the M. Chinnaswamy Stadium during the recent IPL 2026 match between Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) and Gujarat Titans (GT). On April 24, two subcontractor employees allegedly damaged key surveillance systems, disabling approximately 240 security cameras.

Despite disruption concerns regarding player and spectator safety, stadium officials immediately activated alternative monitoring systems. Their quick response ensured that the match continued without any security issues Rajat Patidar-Chasing the target of 205 runs, the team won by five wickets.

According to a report in India Today, the Cubbon Park Police has booked Manjunath E and Abdul Kalam in connection with the security violation. Manjunath is from Chitradurga, while Abdul Kalam is from Uttar Pradesh. Both were working under a sub-vendor of IVS Digital Solutions, which provides digital services.

Aditya Bhatt has filed a complaint regarding the incident. He represents Stack Technologies Pvt Ltd, a Gurugram-based firm responsible for managing the AI-powered monitoring systems at the M. Chinnaswamy Stadium. The company plays an important role in maintaining security during RCB home matches.

During police interrogation, both the accused admitted to damaging the surveillance equipment. They told officials that IVS Digital Solutions had not paid their pending payments, which totaled ₹10 lakh, for several months, leading to frustration and the extreme step.

The accused bypassed security and deactivated 240 cameras at Chinnaswamy Stadium.

Police investigation revealed how Manjunath E and Abdul Kalam committed this act. He allegedly used a deactivated access card to bypass security and entered the restricted CCTV server room at the M. Chinnaswamy Stadium without valid authorization during the match.

Once inside, they cut off key fiber optic connections as well as several network video recorder systems. The act disrupted live surveillance in critical areas including entry gates, perimeter areas, concourses and D corporate stands.

Due to damage to these fiber connections, Stack Technologies Pvt Ltd could not provide live camera feed. As a result, police personnel lost access to around 240 cameras, affecting real-time monitoring and crowd control during the Royal Challengers Bangalore vs Gujarat Titans match.

Frequent incidents have raised serious security concerns at Chinnaswamy Stadium.

This major surveillance breach has raised growing concerns about the management and security operations at the M. Chinnaswamy Stadium. Such back-to-back incidents have raised serious questions over the effectiveness of the existing protocols in one of the most high-profile IPL venues in South India.

Just days before the incident, the Bengaluru Police had cracked down on a ticket black-marketing racket outside the stadium. Authorities arrested a canteen employee named Chandrashekhar for illegal ticket sales during another high-profile match.

Police seized around 100 premium tickets from him, which he was allegedly selling at high prices ahead of the Royal Challengers Bangalore vs Lucknow Super Giants match. The incident further highlighted the ongoing shortcomings in stadium management this season.
