Australian all-rounder Glenn Maxwell is back in his dangerous mode and played an innings that completely changed the season of Hyderabad Kingsmen in the ongoing Pakistan Super League 2026 (PSL 2026).
Hyderabad Kingsmen were under pressure ahead of the virtual eliminator against Rawalpindi, having already suffered four consecutive defeats at the start of the current season of the Pakistan Super League, so they needed a big win to stay in the tournament.
But Maxwell stepped up at the right time and delivered an incredible performance that not only won them the match against Rawalpindi but also sealed their place in the PSL 2026 playoffs.

Batting first, Hyderabad Kingsmen suffered a batting collapse in the middle overs and that’s when Maxwell took charge. The star all-rounder smashed the Rawalpindi bowlers all around the park as he scored 70 runs off 37 balls, which included eight fours and three sixes.

Interestingly, Maxwell was sent to bat at number 7; Nevertheless, he managed to play a vital role in helping Hyderabad Kingsmen get a huge 106-run win over Rawalpindi in the PSL 2026 game. Chasing 245, Rawalpindi were never in the game. Although Usman Khawaja tried his best and scored unbeaten 66 runs, he did not get support from the other end.
Rawalpindi team kept losing wickets continuously and finally got out for only 136 runs. Maxwell’s impact was not just with the bat. He assisted in a run out and took a brilliant catch of Saad Masood, as well as bowled out Mohammad Amir in the PSL 2026 clash.
The win helped Hyderabad Kingsmen reach the top four and eliminated Lahore Qalandars from the tournament. Now Hyderabad will face Multan Sultans in the eliminator. On the other hand, Islamabad United will play against Peshawar Zalmi for a place in the final of PSL 2026.

After Hyderabad Kingsmen’s qualification, the Australian all-rounder, who withdrew from the IPL 2026 auction to play in PSL 2026, said that he is really enjoying his time in the Pakistan Super League and feels lucky to be a part of such a strong team.
Glenn Maxwell said in the press conference, “The PSL experience has been very good so far. I have been extremely fortunate that I have been a part of a very good team. I have been extremely fortunate that I have been a part of a very good team.”
Reflecting on the poor start, Glenn Maxwell stressed that the debutant team was playing good cricket from the start, but the results were not going their way. He also credited head coach Jason Gillespie and captain Marnus Labuschagne for creating a strong team environment.

“They probably didn’t get the results they deserved in the first four games, but the groundwork that (coach) Jason Gillespie and (captain) Marnus Labuschagne had laid for the group was bound to be fulfilled at some stage,” the Australian star said.

On regaining form after a long period of poor form, he said that failure is normal in cricket, but what really matters is how strongly you bounce back after the tough times.
Glenn Maxwell concluded, “I’ve been through a lot of tough times throughout my career. You won’t always have success; it won’t always be easy. You’ll have to take a lot of risks, so you’ll fail at different times; it’s how you recover from that failure that determines what kind of character you have.”
