Lizzo is storming the music scene, this time in a much louder and more adventurous style, announcing her third studio album, Bitch.
The announcement came as the chart-topping artist turned 38.
In her candid style, she gave a statement saying that the album took inspiration from Meredith Brooks’ iconic song of the same name.
“There’s power in reclaiming the word ‘bitch,'” says the Pink hitmaker as she opens up about what she says was once an insult.
“It’s eliminating the label that was once used to belittle women and turning it into a declaration of confidence and unapologetic self-love.”
However, Lizzo says she’s not the first female artist to treat the term like a badge of honor.
“So many incredible women in music like Meredith Brooks and Missy Elliott have used this word for positivity.”
