bridgerton Star Ruth Gemmell shared her two cents on the scene that initially caused her to cry, but later learned its significance to the plot of the Regency era series.
In a new confession cine-tele-review, The actress, who plays a mother of eight, confessed that she “went home and cried” when she learned she had to film an intimate moment between her character Violet Bridgerton and Daniel Francis’ Lord Marcus Anderson during the fourth installment of the series.
Sharing her initial reaction, she said, “I was a little shocked. I was at the costume fitting and I realized I was being fitted for something I had no idea was going to happen. I went home and cried.”
Nonetheless, he revealed that the production handled the situation well with maturity and a bit of humor, and joked that “low lighting” was used to set the mood.
She further commented, “Thankfully we dealt with it a little differently for the kids on the show, because I don’t think anyone would really want to watch it. I was a little surprised.”
Reflecting on the importance of that scene, she shared her belief that it was “important” to show the widowed character finding love again after the death of her husband Edmund several years earlier.
“I think it’s important. We don’t die after a certain age, so it’s great to represent that,” he said.
