Stephanie White has outlined how Indiana Fever plan to improve their support following Caitlin Clarke’s return to action.
Clark scored seven points in 17 minutes in a preseason win over the New York Liberty, but struggled with shooting efficiency.
Speaking after the game, White said the opponents were putting heavy defensive pressure on Clark.
“We’ve just seen it on film. Teams are going to guard him 94 feet. They’re going to try to take away his touch. They’re going to try to make everything difficult,” he said.
“We’ve got to do a better job of finding ways that we can give him high-percentage looks where he doesn’t always have to go and make tough shots.”
He also stressed the importance of team chemistry: “It’s getting them more comfortable with each other. It’s getting them a little more comfortable with off-ball action and moving the ball.”
Clark played limited games last season due to injuries, averaging 16.5 points per game. The Fever will next face the Dallas Wings in preseason action.
