Luke 19:29-46

²⁹ When he came to a place called the Mount of Olives, near Bethphage and Bethany, he sent two of his disciples ahead, ³⁰ And said, “Go to the village opposite. When you enter it you will find a donkey’s colt tied, on which no one has ever sat. Untie him and bring him here.” ³¹ And if someone asks you, ‘Why are you opening it?’ You will say this: ‘The Lord needs this.'”

³² Those who were sent ahead went and found just as he had told them. ³³ As they were untying the colt, its owners said to them, “Why are you untying the colt?”

³⁴ He said, “The Lord needs this.”

³⁵ Then they brought the child to Jesus. They threw their clothes on the colt and placed Jesus on it. ³⁶ As he moved ahead, people spread their clothes on the road. ³⁷ As he was approaching the slopes of the Mount of Olives, the entire crowd of disciples began to praise God with joy and with loud voices for all the miracles they had seen. ³⁸ Saying, “Blessed is the king who comes in the name of the Lord! ⁽¹⁾ Peace in heaven and glory in the highest!”

³⁹ Some of the Pharisees in the crowd said to him, “Teacher, rebuke your disciples!”

⁴⁰ He replied, “I tell you, if these people remain silent, the stones will cry out.”

⁴¹ As he came closer, he saw the city and wept over it. ⁴² He said, “If you, yes you, only knew this day ⁽²⁾ Things that will bring you peace. But now, it is hidden from your eyes. ⁴³ Indeed, the days will come upon you when your enemies will erect a barricade against you, surround you, and surround you from all sides. ⁴⁴ Within your walls, they will raze you and your children to the ground. And they will not put one stone upon another inside your walls, because you did not recognize the time when God came to help you. ⁽³⁾

Jesus cleaned his father’s house

⁴⁵ Jesus entered the temple and began to drive out the sellers ⁽⁴⁾ Things there. ⁴⁶ He said to them, “It is written, ‘My house will be a house of prayer,’ ⁽⁵⁾ But you have made it a den of robbers!” ⁽⁶⁾
