This incident happened during the second over of Punjab Kings’ innings. Rajasthan Royals fast bowler Nandre Berger bowled the ball and Priyansh Arya hit a huge six, which hit a spectator in the face, causing instant panic in the stands.
With modern bats becoming wider and boundaries relatively smaller, such high-intensity matches pose a risk to spectators. After the collision, the injured fan began bleeding heavily, with blood visible on his shirt and nearby spectators rushed to help.
People present at the scene cleaned the wound before medical staff took him to a local hospital in Mullanpur for treatment. Priyansh Arya played a quick inning of 29 runs in just 11 balls before Joffra Archer was out in the third over.
Prabhsimran Singh and Marcus Stoinis shine for Punjab Kings
Punjab Kings posted a mammoth score of 222 runs after Rajasthan Royals captain Riyan Parag elected to field first. Prabhsimran Singh scored 59 runs in 44 balls, hitting six fours and provided stability at the top.
Marcus Stoinis performed brilliantly during the death overs, scoring unbeaten 62 runs in just 22 balls. The all-rounder cleared the ropes six times, completely changing the momentum and helping Punjab Kings reach a challenging total.
Despite setting a huge target, Punjab Kings suffered their first defeat of the season. However, they remain on top of the IPL points table with 13 points from six wins. Punjab Kings will now face Gujarat Titans (GT) in their next match to be held on 3rd May.
Donovan Ferreira leads Rajasthan Royals to victory
Chasing a tough target, Rajasthan Royals got a great start from Yashasvi Jaiswal and Vaibhav Suryavanshi. Suryavanshi scored 43 runs in just 16 balls, while Jaiswal scored a brilliant 51 runs in 27 balls to lay a strong foundation for the chase.
After the middle order wicket fell at the hands of Yuzvendra Chahal, Ferreira took charge and took the innings forward. He shared a crucial 77-run partnership with Shubham Dubey, who remained unbeaten on 31 off 12 balls during the tense final overs.
Ferreira remained unbeaten on 52 off 26 balls and earned the Player of the Match award for his finishing effort. His innings gave Rajasthan Royals their sixth win of the season and moved them to third place in the points table.
