Dakota Mortenson is once again denying the allegations.
Taylor Frankie Paul’s ex-husband is speaking out on domestic violence allegations after the upcoming season of The Bachelorette was canceled after video of the former couple’s 2023 fight leaked.
The 33-year-old said E! news“As anyone who has seen the video will understand, this is a very disturbing situation.”
“Unfortunately, I am accustomed to these baseless claims about me and our relationship, which I categorically deny,” he said in the statement.
“I’m focused on my son and his safety and I hope Taylor does the same,” Dakota said.
For those who don’t know, a spokesperson for Disney Entertainment said in a statement that they are leaving Season 3 of The Bachelorette after the controversial video surfaced.
“In light of the new video released today, we have made the decision not to pursue a new season of The Bachelorette at this time, and our focus is on supporting the family,” the statement read.
Taylor’s rep responded that the TV personality is “very grateful for ABC’s support as she prioritizes the safety and security of her family.”
The statement added, “After years of silently enduring extensive mental and physical abuse, as well as threats of retaliation, Taylor is finally finding the strength to confront her accuser and take steps to ensure that she and her children are safe from any further harm.”
In the video published by tmz On Thursday, Taylor could be seen throwing chairs at Dakota, while a child was nearby.
Taylor and Dakota, who are also parents to a two-year-old son, are involved in an open “domestic assault investigation,” a spokesperson for the Draper City Police Department told PEOPLE in early February.
The source said that “allegations have been made in both directions” and that “contact was made with the parties involved on February 24 and 25”, but did not share further details at the time.
However, Taylor’s insider denied that she was “violent” during the incident and said the reality star was “focused” on her now-canceled Bachelorette premiere.
