Sabrina Carpenter has reportedly been granted a temporary restraining order against a man she alleges came to her Los Angeles home without permission.
According to court documents, the singer had sought legal protection from a 31-year-old man named William Applegate. Carpenter claims the first incident occurred on May 23, when Applegate allegedly showed up to her home uninvited despite having no prior relationship or communication with her.
In his filing, the Espresso hitmaker described the encounter as worrying and said the man’s actions appeared to be deliberate and aggressive. She said security camera footage captured him outside her front door, where he allegedly attempted to open the door before ringing the doorbell.
Additionally, the filing shows that members of Carpenter’s security team confronted the man and instructed him to leave the property. However, the singer alleges that he refused to comply until law enforcement officers arrived and arrested him. She further claimed that the man falsely suggested that he knew her, even though the two had never met.
The outlet quoted Carpenter as saying, “William Applegate is a complete stranger to me. I have never met him or communicated with him in any way.”
“I have no desire to meet or talk to him,” he said.
Furthermore, Carpenter revealed that the incidents did not end there as Applegate returned to the property on May 24 and again on May 25, less than 24 hours after the initial arrest, leading to additional intervention by security personnel and police.
Now, a judge has issued a temporary restraining order requiring the man to stay away from Sabrina Carpenter, her sister Sarah Carpenter, and Sarah’s boyfriend George.
The next court hearing to determine whether the order will be extended or made permanent is scheduled for June 17.
