One of my favorite things is looking at moms with their kids in pictures. But sometimes even the best husband and wife may not be as good behind the camera. so! in partnership with Aura Frames – Just in time for Mother’s Day – here are 12 tips for taking beautiful photos of the moms in your life…

1. Keep track of the obvious moments. The fastest way to become a great photographer is just to keep track of the sweet moments. Kids move fast, so don’t hesitate: grab your phone and take a shot.

2. You don’t always need faces. Photographs of people with feet or hands or from behind can be so fascinating and can tell a story in themselves.

3. Take lots of pictures. Seriously, take 30. One must be good, and then she can choose her favorite. You can also use the “Live Photo” mode. This will capture a few seconds before and after you snap. You can go back later and choose the best frame – i.e. the one where no one is blinking.

4. Take pictures of the scenery. If there’s a scene, pull that camera out. Everyone. alone. Time.

5. Move the camera around. Holding your camera above eye level is always more attractive than capturing a double chin from below. Also, move around while taking photos. Different angles can make a big difference!

6. Remember the hugs. “When I lost my mom, I realized I had a limited number of photos with her,” my friend Liz Libre once told me. “I want photos of my arms around my kids, my body touching them. I want that represented in my camera roll.” Same, Oh God.

7. Capture daily routines too. Photographing activities she does all the time – like running errands, taking the kids to school, helping tie her shoelaces – can look realistic and beautiful.

8. Play with light. The golden time – morning or evening – is always soft and magical. If you’re indoors, turn off overheads and move to natural light near windows.

9. Try black and white. If the lighting is bad or the colors look bad, switch to black and white – it looks instantly classic. We do this especially on photos taken at night.

10. Offer to take photos with mom friends. Parenting takes a village, and it’s great to look back at the times you spent raising your children together.

11. Perfection is not necessary. Even a blurry photo can become an all-time favorite.

12. Enjoy the photos! Don’t let them go waste on your phone, enjoy all the beauty with it. I would highly recommend aura digital frameWhich lets you easily share photos from multiple phones (you can invite friends and relatives through the app) and display them in an ever-changing carousel.
