Happy Month of Madness – May-September / May-nia / May-hem – for those whose school-age children are entering the month of end-of-the-year activities and celebrations! Our May madness started early this week with several school events including a fourth grade economics fair (really cool), a preschool strawberry picking field trip (my last – yikes!), and a second grade performance. It was all great and really fun to see what our older kids have been working on come to fruition.
Tonight we go to the football field again for the final game of the season for Chase and Ryder and then on Saturday it’s another flag football game for Chase. We also plan to gather with friends today (all the boys have school holidays) and have a bonfire! I hope you all have a wonderful weekend and hope to see you back here next week.
And now let’s dive into my weekly roundup of favorites!
Things I Love on Friday
(Tank: Target /Jeans: frame – PBFINGERS15 Saves 15% / Sandals: Amazon / bag: Amazon)
in Amazon Strappy Sandals Deserves a cheer this morning because we’re entering the time of year when I’ll be wearing these again and again. I love the added interest from the multiple straps – a great alternative to a basic flip flop! -And they remind me a lot of TKEESE sandals, but for a fraction of the price. The best part though? They are legitimately comfortable. The short straps don’t dig in and there’s enough padding on the bottom to keep your foot from feeling every lump and bump you might step on.
Ryan: “Hey, is that a new phone charger?”
Me: “Yes! But it charges faster.”
Ryan: “How do you know that.”
Me: “Umm… marketing?”
Ha! But in reality, marketing on phone charger I found it on Amazon and you know what? It didn’t do me wrong! This little charger is the fastest charger I have used for my phone. The marketing gimmicks that sold me were the fast charging times, but also the fact that this charger uses technology that preserves your phone’s battery life. (This may all be in my mind, but I honestly started to question whether my phone’s battery was draining faster after using one or two of my previous chargers. Is that possible!?) It can also charge up to three devices simultaneously (two built-in USB-C cables and an additional USB-C port), so you can charge your phone, laptop, earbuds, etc. simultaneously if needed. I’m a fan!!
What a fun game!!! This game went into Chase’s Christmas stocking this year and our whole family loves it. It’s incredibly fast-paced and our whole family, adults and kids, really get into this type of play. It’s also faster to learn which is always a plus! You are essentially working to complete different piles of matching clothes using cards that move rapidly from the middle pile at the same time. It’s a whirlwind! Also, I realized it says it’s for ages 8+, but 5.5 year old Rhett can play by himself, although if he wants a winning shot, he’ll have to pair up with me or Ryan.

first year Cairo by Claire Burke
Genre: Contemporary Fiction / My Rating: B+
Wow, what a book. Do you know how those books you read make you feel weird the whole time you’re reading them? it was first year For me. I didn’t like the main character at all and so much of the book was completely uncomfortable to read… and yet I couldn’t write it. Now that I think about it, it’s a weird parallel drawing because at the center of this book is a polarizing “tradwife” Instagram influencer named Natalie, who has millions of followers and creates content that her fans (and haters) are accustomed to consuming, dissecting, and vehemently endorsing or picking apart. She definitely fascinated me. Oops. When Natalie wakes up in a life that is not hers, the book takes a turn as she is forced to face difficulties she never imagined and questions why she is where she is and how this could possibly be her new reality. This book sparked a lot of internal dialogue in my brain and I think it would make an absolutely fantastic book club book.
From Amazon: Natalie leads a traditional lifestyle. Their charming farmhouse is rustic, her husband a handsome cowboy, each of their six children more delightful than the last. So what if the grandmother is…
