    How RTS Link is changing the way Singaporeans think about living in Johor Bahru

    When the 4km extension of the Johor Bahru-Singapore Rapid Transit System (RTS) from Singapore’s Woodlands North Station to Johor Bahru’s Bukit Chagar Station becomes operational in early 2027, it will ease commuting between this international border. But the promise of a more seamless cross-border experience has sparked wider discussion about how Singaporeans are starting to look at Johor Bahru’s property market as part of their long-term housing strategy. For many Singaporeans, Johor Bahru has long been associated with weekend trips – a place for short trips rather than long-term stays. But that perception is beginning to change. As we get closer to the completion of the RTS, which is scheduled to become operational in January 2027, the conversation among some Singaporeans is no longer just about how soon they will be able to cross the Causeway. …
