Locals at the world’s largest nudist resort say it has been taken over by swingers who revel in serious outdoor sex sessions.
Filled with hotels, apartment buildings, villas and a campsite, the naturist village of Cap d’Agde in the south of France hosts up to 40,000 guests in peak season.
Insiders say swingers – couples who swap partners with others – have now become the majority of the population.
What was once simply a clothing-free holiday destination has transformed into something more hedonistic – with new “lifestyle visitors” now engaging in sexual acts on a part of the beach where anything goes.
Barbara, a British woman who used to live in the village with her husband, now only stays during the summer months.
He told The Sun: “Since we first started coming to the village almost 30 years ago, there has been a massive change in the number of customers.”

The big change came when “International Swingers” were brought to the village.
Barbara said: “It has made the place more exclusive, creating a clear separation between the original naturist crowd and the new generation of lifestyle visitors.”
Barbara runs a swinging app called SpicyMatch that connects people and hosts events that pack village hotels.
He estimates that the ratio of naturists to swingers is now about 60 to 40 percent.
The streets have long been filled with tourists in their birthday suits wandering around supermarkets, hair salons, clothing and fetish shops.
But even more shocking are the open sex sessions taking place on the Bay of Pigs beach.
Describing a typical day there, reporter William J. Fernie said: “A woman with long, brown hair was lying on her back, with a fat man on top of her.
“The sight of the two copulating triggered an immediate, almost frenzied reaction among equally naked men nearby, who were constantly on the lookout for such action.
“Dozens of people treated the couple warmly and stood almost shoulder to shoulder, touching them and pleasuring themselves.
“Families with small children were strolling along the water’s edge, some stopping to gaze in awe at the gathering before moving on.
“Despite this, the love-making couple continued, at one point the man grabbed the woman by the throat and choked her while she looked towards her admiring audience.”
Other raunchy incidents included “two large, elderly men having sex” and “several men pleasuring themselves when they noticed two young, naked women next to them sunbathing naked”.
Barbara says she no longer goes to the beach because “it’s not my choice”.
He said the police control the beach from a control tower
“During the summer months both security and lifeguards and police are in the tower all day,” he said.
Amid similar activity in the village, there have been warnings against “sexual exhibitionism” on the streets, especially at night.
Violators risk one year in jail and a €15,000 fine.
The conflict between nudists and swingers has been well documented over the years.
The Times reported in 2008 that “nudist mullahs” were “at war” with swingers.
Even the police got involved after three swingers’ clubs were burnt down.
“The usually peaceful Cap d’Agde, a draw for nudists in the south of France, has been plunged into concern,” the report said.
“Investigators suspect ‘radical’ naturists with a grudge against ichangists, or swingers, who come to town with the promise of sex.”
But according to Barbara, those hot days are long gone, and peace has returned to the village.
“I don’t see any tension,” he said, insisting that naturists and swingers now “live in harmony”.
He said that everyone does their own thing, does not go to the same places, and “I have friends from both (groups) and they get along perfectly”.
According to local author and estate agent Victoire Baume, Naturist Village has recently experienced an explosion in popularity.
“It is known all over the world and is growing,” he said.
He said that during the pandemic, when local officials said 7,000 people tested positive for corona in the village in just one day, “something unusual happened”.
The beaches were not empty because the village was not “dead”.
She said: “It protested, and it was so much fun and warm. You meet people from everywhere in the world: the United States, New Zealand, South Africa, even China. Also Middle Eastern countries – Qatar – and many others.”
