Hyderabad Kingsmen had a poor start in the PSL, but bounced back in their inaugural season and reached the final against one-time champions Peshawar Zalmi. Kingsmen captain Marnus Labuschagne was seen having a heated argument with the fourth umpire after being disappointed by Kusal Perera’s controversial run out.

It’s the final matchday in the 11th edition of the Pakistan Super League, and the campaign is underway between 2017 winners Peshawar Zalmi and newcomers Hyderabad Kingsmen.

Kingsmen team captain Marnus Labuschagne vented his anger on the fourth umpire after the umpires took a controversial run-out decision against Kusal Perera, who was the sixth wicket in the Kingsmen’s innings.

Kusal Perera’s dismissal in the PSL final sparked massive controversy; Marnus Labuschagne is furious

Hyderabad Kingsmen had the worst start in the PSL 2026 final, with the Marnus Labuschagne-led side losing by five wickets in just seven overs of play. Kusal Perera was at the crease with Sam Ayub at the crease.

Kusal Perera was trying to steal a quick single on the 5th ball of the 8th over of the game against Naheed Rana, but the seamer stopped him and he had to run around him to complete his run. Meanwhile, Michael Bracewell picked up the ball and aimed at the stumps.

Now, Marnus Labuschagne was disappointed as he was given a run out because the bowler, according to him, had prevented the batsman from coming back to the crease, which he reported to the fourth umpire. However, the umpire argued that Rana had nothing to do with Perera and was merely looking at the ball.

Incredible comeback of Hyderabad Kingsmen in PSL 2026

Hyderabad Kingsmen, who were the newest entrants in this season of Pakistan Super League, had their worst start in the PSL. The Marnus Labuschagne-led side started with four consecutive defeats. With ten matches played for each team, they recorded five wins in the next six matches of the season.

It was a miraculous comeback in PSL terms, as the Kingsmen became the first team in PSL history to qualify for the playoffs after losing the first four matches of the season. He also created history in the second qualifier by defending 6 runs in the last over of the game.

In defense of 130 runs in PSL final, Kingsmen bowlers attacked strongly in the beginning.

The Kingsmen have performed particularly well with the ball in all these games. However, in this game, he struck twice in the very first over, dismissing in-form veteran Babar Azam for a golden duck and then also dismissing Mohammad Haris.

Kusal Mendis also got out after a good start to the innings and the Kingsmen came back into the game with a big four. However, there was a major hurdle standing in the way of the Marnus Labuschagne-led side as Aaron Hardie, after taking several wickets with the ball, has now scored a few runs with the bat.

They are chasing a weak score of 129 which was set in the final after giving credit to Sam Ayub’s brilliant innings and the captain’s early start.
