A search operation is still underway in southern England after police declared a major domestic incident in Bristol on Sunday morning.
Two people have died and three others, including a child, have been slightly injured after an explosion at a house in Bristol.
A man and a woman have died after a suspicious explosion at a home in Bristol, southern England, authorities report.
Police declared it a major incident, but they were not treating it as a suspected terrorist incident as Avon and Somerset Police Superintendent Matt Abbes later described it as a domestic-related incident.
“A woman and a man have died at the address, and we are treating the explosion as suspicious. Their families have been updated and are being supported by specially trained officers. Our thoughts are with them.”
Police said in a statement that officers were also making inquiries at a property in Bristol linked to the explosion, and although they were in the initial stages, at this point officers were not looking for anyone else in connection with the explosion.
Police said there was no significant damage to other properties.
Officials said this remains a complex and sensitive investigation and updates will continue to be provided as they become available.
The cordon around the property is expected to remain in place until at least Sunday evening, as people living within the cordon were moved to a temporary rest centre.
