Taraji P. Henson is criticizing her fellow A-list actors who attended the 2026 Met Gala sponsored by Jeff Bezos and Lauren Sanchez Bezos.
​The annual fashion gala, also known as the biggest fashion night, is under scrutiny for having the Amazon founder and his wife Lauren Sanchez as co-chairs.
the Empire The actress supported Meredith Lynch’s social media post, titled “A warning to celebrities”, in which she called out celebrities participating in a Bezos-backed program where they are not allowed to wear an ICE Out pin.
Meredith said in the video that Bezos is “part of the reason we’re in this mess.”
While acknowledging the fundraising nature of the event, Meredith said it is “unusual” to her that “this event is sponsored by Jeff Bezos, who has supported US President Donald Trump, who has cut arts funding.”
In support of Meredith’s comments, Taraji, who last attended the program in 2025, questioned the celebs attending the program, writing, “I’m so confused by some of the people leaving. I’m just like WTF are we doing!?!?!?!”
​Later, Taraji reposted another UN post on her Stories as another comment on Bezos, referring to the billionaire’s $500 million yacht and “immigrant workers in Amazon warehouses facing precarious conditions, low wages, and high injury rates.”
​The actress did not attend the 2026 Met Gala. Other A-listers who notably missed the ceremony were Zendaya, Bella Hadid and Ariana Grande. However, the reason for his absence has not been revealed.
According to a report by cnnICE, Immigration and Customs Enforcement, is “playing a key role in the Trump administration’s plans to crack down on illegal immigration.”
