US President Donald Trump said Britain “should have acted much faster” in allowing the US to use British bases to attack Iranian missile sites targeting the Strait of Hormuz.
Trump’s comments came as ministers agreed that the US would be allowed to use British bases to attack Iranian targets in the Strait of Hormuz. Downing Street said the UK bases would now be used for US defensive operations to weaken missile sites and capabilities being used to attack ships.
Up to this point, the government has only allowed the US to use British bases to attack missile sites targeting British interests in the region.
