Questions are growing, wondering how the Duchess of Sussex will respond to the diminishing offers within the Netflix sphere professionally and according to Joe Lyons, spokesperson for Pundit Arena, there are some things the royal can choose from, down to the exact percentage.
For those who don’t know, Prince Harry and Meghan Markle have been financially independent without much support from the firm until 2018. However, right after landing in the US the couple received some offers worth millions of dollars from Spotify and Netflix.
But now one has been cut short and another has been renegotiated, but at a lower payoff, the idea of picking up things like a memoir or a tell-all about Meghan is growing.
A recent update even warned that she could do everything. But the least likely things, according to the rep, are: “A memoir leads the market at 8/11. Entering the fashion world is another plausible path for Meghan, priced at 3/1.”
But “a return to acting is also under consideration for the Duchess of Sussex” as “she is ready to return to our TV screens as an actress.”
Prince Harry, Meghan Markle’s life since Megxit:
What happened next is said to have been a rapid ‘transition’, as seen in behind-the-scenes images the Sussexes shared in their documentary for Netflix a few years later.
From Vancouver Island, Canada, to Santa Barbara, California, and Tyler Perry’s home in between, the couple traveled at the height of the COVID-19 pandemic. But before then, her final round of royal duties included attending the Endeavor Fund Awards and the Commonwealth Day service held at Westminster Abbey.
A few years later, news came that the 12-month ‘review period’ had ended, which meant the Sussexes would not be officially confirmed to return to royal life. This also led to Prince Harry being stripped of his honorary military titles and royal patronage.
From that point of the interview, the (Oprah Winfrey, 60 Minutes, CBS, BBC) documentary series, (Harry and Meghan) started right after the deals were signed with both Netflix and Spotify.
While the Netflix deal is said to be going ahead albeit in a reduced capacity, the Spotify deal fell through and fans even saw CEO Daniel Ek come out and accuse the pair of being “corruptors.”
A few years later, around 2023, in January the memoir Prince Harry was working on came out titled Spare, and it featured details of the Sandringham summit, the Dog Bowl incident (where Prince Harry was thrown by his brother) as well as promising ‘more material’ should a second book be considered.
Amidst all this (in 2021), Princess Lilibet Diana Mountbatten-Windsor joined the family, but not before Meghan suffered a miscarriage, which she later wrote for The New York Times in the headline ‘The Losses We Share’.
The only documented return to the UK where Meghan accompanied her husband was for Queen Elizabeth’s platinum jubilee (June 2022), followed by her funeral. However, it didn’t end there as the King’s coronation followed, with Lilibet and Archie becoming Prince and Princess, as is their ‘birthright’ in their father’s words, followed by the father and son duo making their first official contact in many years at Windsor Castle over tea for about an hour. The anti-royal interviews have subsided since then, and the Sussexes are said to be working towards rehabilitation, despite rumors of Prince William’s dissatisfaction.
