Google first introduced Android XR as a dedicated platform for mixed reality experiences, with Gemini deeply integrated into the operating system. The company pitches the platform as an alternative to rivals like Meta and Apple, with hardware built by multiple partners rather than Google working alone.
With Samsung being one of Google’s biggest partners for Android XR, it’s possible that we might get a glimpse of the rumored Galaxy Glasses at I/O. Recently leaked renders have given us our clearest look yet at Samsung’s Android XR smart glasses effort, reportedly codenamed “Jinju.” The renders showed a fairly traditional design, similar to the Meta’s Ray-Ban glasses.

The leak also suggests that the Galaxy Glasses may feature Qualcomm’s Snapdragon AR1 chip, a 155mAh battery, a 12MP Sony IMX681 camera, Wi-Fi, and Bluetooth 5.3 connectivity. The wearable is also rumored to feature directional speakers, photochromic transition lenses, and a lightweight design weighing around 50 grams.
Google is also openly teasing its collaboration with XREAL on Project Aura, so they may also appear at the event. Meanwhile, fashion partnerships with brands like Warby Parker and Gentle Monster may also show off Android XR-powered eyewear.
