Diane Kruger's Cannes Airport Shoes Are Smarter Than Sneakers

Choosing the best shoes to wear to the airport is one of fashion’s oldest and most unresolved matters. Obviously, you want comfort, but you also want a style of shoe that is easy to take off and put back on after safety. The latter is why I’ve never been able to understand why everyone insists on wearing sneakers to travel. They are annoying to put on and take off, and take a lot of time to unlace and reattach. And don’t bother me if the laces come loose as you’re speeding to your gate—that’s a disaster waiting to happen. Suffice it to say, I’m always on the lookout for good airport outfits to help point my shoe selection in the right direction, and Cannes is my top pick for airport style looks, especially during the Cannes Film Festival. Kruger, consistently one of the best-dressed attendees of the Cannes Film Festival, arrived at the airport on Tuesday, flying in a casual but polished travel outfit that consisted of a baggy white T-shirt and baseball cap, paired with black wide-leg jeans and a pair of brown suede boots by Isabel Marant, with a tailored look that made her feel comfortable and cool, let alone comfortable. (Never choose shoes that are too tight while flying—it’s terrible for circulation.) The 49-year-old actress completed the look with sunglasses and a white Givenchy Veuve bucket bag.
