From 2024, I have recommended a job called Job Search Movement never search alone. I appreciate that Help for Job Seekers is free, and I hope that job seekers will find valuable advice and camaraderie during the challenging job search process. This movement aspires to transform the job search from lonely and frustrating to community-based and empowering.

never search alone The job search methodology is based on founder Phil Terry’s 20 years of coaching experience with 2,000 job and promotion seekers. A key component of this method is the job seeker’s participation in a free volunteer-led job search council. As of May 2026, the organization has launched 5,000 councils and helped more than 50,000 job seekers.

In addition to running the Job Search Council, never search alone The process offers free resources like tools and templates, videos, and LinkedIn live events. Below I describe the method and some of the components, followed by some new concerns I had after reviewing feedback from job seekers.

    Process

job search council – A support group of 4-6 fellow job seekers who agree to search together. Job Search Council and Resources never search alone The movement co-partners in helping job seekers choose the most effective ways to network, interview, and evaluate job offers.

Terry observed that the job search creates anxiety and fear in almost everyone. He said that job search councils act as a kind of private “safety net” for the emotional impact of capitalism, explaining:

While the source of the fear you feel is systemic, the way to address it is local — that is, create a job search council that can transform the fear and anxiety you feel into hope, motivation, accountability, and that all-important job search feeling: confidence.

Nukin Two-Pager (named after Harvard Business School professor Allison Mnookin) – A summary of what you like to do and what you dislike doing, what “should” and “shouldn’t” happen in your job, your short-term and long-term career goals, and your strengths and weaknesses.

hearing journey – A method of conducting market research to identify your candidate’s suitability for the market. Terry emphasizes that market research should occur before networking or interviews begin.

golden question – A major question asked in Shravan Yatra: If you were me, how would you approach this job search?

candidate-market fit – Strategic alignment between a candidate’s unique value proposition and the specific needs of their target market segment in the professional landscape.

Job Mission with OKRs – Your version of the job description with objectives and main results; It is used to confirm that your understanding of the job matches the hiring manager’s expectations.

    Feedback from job seekers: Good

Job seekers tell me positive things about their experience with the Job Search Council, which is why I recommend this program. Examples of positive feedback:

    • “I went through the NSA program and everyone in my job search council got a job within +/- 6 months. I wouldn’t say it was because of the NSA, but being in the weekly meetings and doing the NSA work definitely increased our chances. This method gave us clarity about what roles to strive for versus time-wasting applications. So TLDR: NSA helps increase your effectiveness as a job candidate, creating a virtuous cycle. Is.” – ldr32 on reddit

    • “Looking for your next role without NSA seems unimaginable. I sometimes compare NSA to AA. Even though job hunting doesn’t have to be an addiction, applying the power of shared support, honesty, and accountability has a profound impact.” – Prisca Akkens on LinkedIn

    • “It’s very hard to find a job in this market. The accountability of regular meetings keeps me going when I feel like giving up.” – Anonymous

    • “It increased my anxiety when other members of my job search council got job offers before me, but I tried to remind myself that if they could get a job offer, I could too.” – Anonymous

    • I joined a job search council instead of paying the thousands of dollars required to pay a career coach’s bills. Overall, it was useful, and you can’t get rid of it.” – Anonymous

    • “I used this approach last year. Found a role while making some good friends. We still message each other semi-regularly about career, job searching, and life in general.” – PromptSimulator23 on Reddit

    Job Seekers Feedback: Precautions

Not everyone’s experience is good; Examples of critical feedback:

“The process is very time consuming and it assumes that job seekers have enough savings to decline a job offer while we wait for a better job offer.” – Anonymous

“There needs to be more recognition that the most successful members of the Job Search Council are C-suite executives with a strong professional network, and even more so if they are extroverted and comfortable with self-promotion. The vibe reminds me of LinkedIn, and that’s not a compliment.” – Anonymous

“This program is not suitable for autistic job seekers.” – Anonymous

    conclusion

I will continue to recommend this resource to job seekers, but with some caveats. If you try it, I’m always interested to hear your feedback.
