Matthias Schmid has emerged as one of the surprise contenders at the PGA Championship, with his longtime girlfriend Nora Werleke supporting him during his biggest week in professional golf.
The 28-year-old German golfer spent most of Sunday’s final round at Aronimink Golf Club near the top of the leaderboard as he chases a potential first major title.
Schmid, who played college golf at the University of Louisville, only turned professional in 2021.
His performance this week is the best major championship result of his career, having previously made only one cut at a major tournament.
Wörlke, also from Germany, has largely stayed out of the spotlight as Schmidt’s profile has risen on the PGA Tour.
The couple keeps their relationship relatively private on social media, although Worlke has occasionally shared photos from trips and events with the golfer over the years.
According to his Instagram story, Wörlke is currently supporting Schmid in Aronimink during the tournament.
