Psalm 11-12
psalm 11
faith, not flight
Topic
For the choir director. By David.
fear of the weak hearted
1 In God I take refuge.
How can you say to my soul:
“Flee to your mountain like a bird.
2 Look! The wicked bow their bow.
He put his arrow on the string
Shooting in the dark at the true hearted.
3 When the foundations are being demolished,
What can the righteous do?”
David’s answer
4 God Is in his holy temple.
God Is on his throne in heaven.
His eyes inspect.
he focuses on (1) Children of Adam. (2)
5 God Is a religious person.
He tests the wicked.
he really hates (3) People who like violence.
6 He will rain embers of fire and sulfur on the wicked. (4)
The scorching wind will be the cup given to them.
7 In fact, God Is a religious person. He loves righteousness.
Straight people will see his face.
psalm 12
glorious words vs pure words
Topic
For the choir director. according to sheminith. (5) A Psalm of David.
glorious words of the unrighteous
1 save us, GodBecause kind people have disappeared.
The faithful have vanished from mankind.
2 Everyone lies to his neighbor.
His sycophantic lips speak double. (6)
3 May God Cut off all flattering lips.
May he cut off every tongue that speaks proudly,
4 Who says, “With our tongue we will establish our power.
We say only what we like. (7) Who is lord over us?”
pure words of God
5 “Because of the destruction of the oppressed,
Because of the groaning of the poor,
Now I will rise up,” says God.
“I will protect him from anyone who whispers against him.” (8)
6 words of God are pure words,
Like silver that is refined in a furnace on the ground, purified seven times.
7 You, GodWill keep them safe.
You will always protect them from such people.
8 the wicked roam around
When wickedness is honored by the children of Adam.
footnote
- Psalm 11:4 Literally testing her eyelashes
- Psalm 11:4 Or son of mani.e. all mankind
- Psalm 11:5 Literally his soul hates
- Psalm 11:6 reads hebrew text net, fire and brimstone. The translation follows a Greek version, which reverses two letters in a Hebrew word, changing Net To Burning coal.
- Psalm 12:1 Sheminith Apparently it is derived from the Hebrew word for Eight. It may refer to an eight-stringed musical instrument, the sound of a bass, a low-pitched stringed instrument, or, most likely, a method of tuning a stringed instrument (1 Chronicles 15:21).
- Psalm 12:2 Literally speak from the heart and soul
- Psalm 12:4 Literally our lips are with us
- Psalm 12:5 Or In the security he wants
