Shakira has opened up about her difficulties following her breakup from former football star Gerard Pique.

“I will always have gratitude in my heart for being the father of my children and for turning me into the mother I am today,” she told the outlet.

​Opening up about the emotional toll of her breakup, the 49-year-old Grammy-winning singer elaborated, “I witnessed the disintegration of my family, the family I dreamed of keeping forever. I’ve been through a lot of pain, but it’s probably made me a wiser person in unexpected ways — or at least stronger.”
The mother of two said the tough times have made her “stronger”.
Shakira said, “They say that what doesn’t kill you makes you stronger and it’s true. It’s amazing to know that humans have a resilience that we can draw on at any moment in our lives.

He further added, “Sometimes through difficulties and pain we discover how strong we can be. Sometimes suffering makes you a better person, makes you value friends and support.”
​Shakira is not currently dating anyone as she told the outlet that her “plate is pretty full.”
​”Oh no, there’s no romance for me right now,” Shakira insisted, “There’s no room or time for that in my life… My kids are my priority, and my career. The weird thing is, I love my career more than I ever have in my life. I’m also enjoying my time alone.”
​For those who don’t know, Shakira briefly dated Jimmy Butler and Lucien Laviscount after her split from Piqué.
