Paul McCartney has drawn comparisons between modern pop superstardom and the height of Beatlemania.
The superstar believes Taylor Swift has reached that rare level of global fame.
In an interview with BBC Sounds, the legendary musician reflected on his years touring with The Beatles and was asked what advice he would give Swift as she continues to achieve worldwide success.
McCartney admitted that he sees clear parallels between Swift’s fame and the popularity of The Beatles in the 1960s.
“You see the similarity, you know the amount of fame and notoriety,” he said.
McCartney said, “Taylor Swift has worldwide fame and we have it, but I don’t think she needs any advice, to tell you the truth.”
Regarding the advice he would give the Lover hitmaker, McCartney said, “If she asked for it, I’d definitely do it. I’m like a big brother to that generation, or a grandfather really.”
Additionally, Paul McCartney shared that he has met Taylor Swift and other artists including Billie Eilish, Olivia Rodrigo, and Sabrina Carpenter. “They’re really nice people, they’re very nice,” he said. Noting that he liked “their voices”.
McCartney said, “If he needs any advice, yes, I’d be happy to give advice, but I don’t think he needs advice.”
