    Harmanpreet Kaur became the fourth Indian player to cross 4000 runs in the shortest format of the game. The 37-year-old became the second Indian female cricketer to achieve this feat.

    India women are currently on tour in England and preparing for the upcoming Women’s T20 World Cup, which is scheduled to be held this year. India women also won the ICC ODI World Cup in 2025, which was India’s first World Cup win in women’s cricket.

    Harmanpreet Kaur is often referred to as one of the most famous names in women’s cricket, as she is also the most capped batsman in the Indian team. Kaur has appeared in 196* T20I matches, the most for any cricketer in the world.

    Before the start of the India vs England 2nd T20I in Bristol, the Indian captain was already on the verge of a milestone in her career. Kaur took a double during India’s 15th over when the Women in Blue were chasing the target of 169 runs.

    With those two runs on the second ball of the over, she took her run tally in Women’s T20I to 4001. She became the second Indian female cricketer to cross this milestone and the fourth overall Indian cricketer to reach this milestone.

    Great Indian cricketer Virat Kohli became the first player to cross the 4000-run mark. After him, Rohit Sharma reached this milestone during the T20 World Cup 2024, where he overtook Kohli in terms of runs.

    In women’s cricket, former New Zealand batsman Suzie Bates was the first cricketer to cross the huge milestone of 4000 runs. The legendary female cricketer is currently the leading run-scorer in the format with 4720 runs.

    Smriti Mandhana also reached this milestone in 2025. She has played 165 matches and has scored 4325 runs in the shortest format. Harmanpreet Kaur is behind her in this list with 4019 runs in her career.

    Indian women faced a crushing defeat in Bristol

    After winning the first match of the series against England, he made a comeback in the second match. India had to chase a score of 169 runs, which looked to be a very achievable score for the Women in Blue.

    Smriti Mandhana and Shefali Verma gave them a good start, while last match’s hero Yastika Bhatia missed the mark this time. Despite Harmanpreet Kaur’s good start, she could not take India to victory.

    The middle and lower order could not help India in the death overs and Indian women lost the match by a huge margin of 26 runs.
