Champions League excitement turned into chaos after football riots in France led to hundreds of arrests and dozens of police injuries.
As reported BBCA total of 219 people have been injured in clashes between football fans and police across France after Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) won the Champions League final against Arsenal.
Interior Minister Laurent Nunez said eight were in critical condition.
The footage shows revelers setting fires, burning electric bikes on the streets and breaking the glass of at least one shop.
This time thousands of officers were deployed to stop the unrest that disrupted bus, train and rail services in Paris, while 57 of them were injured.
About 6,000 police have been deployed for Sunday’s victory parade at the Eiffel Tower site. To control the situation, police used tear gas to disperse the crowd in the city centre.
The French interior minister said about 800 people had been arrested over the violence, while more than 450 remained in custody.
One person was also found dead after a crash on Paris’ ring road, which rioters tried to block overnight.
“We are a great country to maintain public order. We allow freedom of assembly, but not of excess.”
The Interior Minister said that the security forces will take necessary action immediately.
When PSG won the same trophy last year, similar violence broke out as celebrations turned deadly as Paris police made 480 arrests, detaining 277 people, including 82 minors.
The Paris prosecutor’s office said the figures were provisional. It said the crimes ranged from assaults on officers to attacks on property, theft as well as illegal possession of weapons.
“The vast majority go out to celebrate and it’s great, but other individuals, who are not PSG supporters, who don’t even watch the match, come to create trouble and disturbance.
“We are here to prevent them from doing this. Our response is very strong,” the French interior minister said on Sunday.
