As a 5’10” tall person who avoids wearing heels, I keep my closet full of sneakers, ballet flats, loafers, and flat sandals. However, as soon as I saw Lily Collins’ new dress, I suddenly realized that my collection of heelless shoes is not complete without one specific style: jazz shoes. Similar to oxfords but made from softer, more flexible leather and thinner soles, jazz shoes are incredibly on-trend at the moment.
Collins wore the trending shoes to watch her fourth-round matches at the French Open in Paris. I’m not sure how much thought went into her shoe selection, but they’re actually quite an appropriate choice for chic tennis tournaments because they resemble Plimsolls were made famous by French tennis player Suzanne Lenglen in the 1920s (Who one of the courts is named after). More than 100 years later, low-profile shoes are trending in 2026. As the saying goes, what’s old is new again! Just a few weeks ago, Charlize Theron wore a very similar pair of flats in New York, helping solidify the style as one of the emerging options for ballet flats of 2026. Scroll down to see how Collins styled them and shop the trend for yourself.
