Meghan Markle, Duchess of Sussex has come under fire after the first photos of her “gala” setup at an Australian wellness retreat surfaced online.
Retreat organiser, Gemma O’Neill, shared a video tour of the InterContinental Sydney Coogee Beach conference room, showing the simple beige hotel space as the stage for Meghan’s appearance.
However, one user on X laughed at the setup, saying, “From a royal banquet to a lousy hotel conference room. Downgrade complete.”
Another said, “This seems like a very low level Holiday Inn real estate convention.”
A third wrote, “I’ve been in that conference room before InterContinental took over the hotel; it’s stuffy and claustrophobic.”
The retreat’s modest location is a sharp contrast to Meghan Markle, Duchess of Sussex’s previous life of attending global royal events.
