Buckingham Palace has confirmed that King Charles and Queen Camilla will proceed with a US state visit in April “on the advice of Her Majesty’s Government” and at the invitation of President Donald Trump.
The palace released a statement on its official website confirming the monarch’s visit.
“On the advice of Her Majesty’s Government and at the invitation of the President of the United States, the King and Queen will pay a state visit to the United States,” the statement said.
King Charles and Camilla’s event will celebrate the historic ties and modern bilateral relations between the United Kingdom and the United States to mark the 250th anniversary of American independence.
It further said the king would then visit Bermuda to conduct “His Majesty’s first royal visit as monarch to a British Overseas Territory”.
The King will visit Bermuda without the Queen.
The palace has confirmed King Charles’s US state visit, days after Prince Harry extended an olive branch to the monarch.
Harry’s friend said that if the Duke is invited by the King, he will receive a package of security which will automatically come into place.
“He would like an invitation to Sandringham.”
“Would he go? It would depend on who was there. If the king said, ‘Come and spend some time with the family’, he would love it.”
“There’s no world in which he can bring the kids back unless there’s an advanced security package around them,” the insider said.
