White House faith advisor Paula White is currently facing massive scrutiny online due to her recent songs praising the US President. On Wednesday, Donald Trump hosted an Easter event at the White House with evangelical groups. During a segment of the private programme, Pastor Paula White-Cain was invited to address the gathering, where she compared the 79-year-old leader to Jesus Christ. According to White-Cain, both Jesus and Trump were “betrayed and arrested and falsely accused.” He said, “This is a familiar pattern that our Lord and Savior has shown us.”“Jesus taught us many lessons through his death, burial, and resurrection. He showed us great leadership through sacrifice,” he said. Similarly, Trump has paid a price like “no one else”, almost with his life. “Sir, because of His resurrection, you arose. Because He was victorious, you were victorious,” White-Cain said, “Sir I believe the Lord told you to tell this, because of His victory, you will be victorious in all things you put your hand to.”While White-Cain’s speech may have received a standing ovation from the MAGA crowd at the White House, online it outraged followers of religion and Jesus Christ around the world. ‘When Paula White says no one has paid the price like you, it’s not theology, it’s flattery on steroids. Easter is about spiritual liberation, not political branding. If every leader facing backlash started claiming a messianic arc, history would look like a Sunday school parody. Faith is sacred. It is not divine to turn this into a campaign at the White House lunch. “This is dramatic,” wrote one user on X. Another claimed, “This is absolutely disgusting to anyone who believes in the gospel.”The statement was also criticized by many priests, pastors, and political strategists, who criticized White for comparing a political leader to God. “Blasphemer,” Catholic theologian Rich Raho posted on X.“Freaks, liars, cheaters, stealers, criminals – anything but Christians. All of them,” political strategist Jeff Timmer posted onThe White House’s spiritual adviser is not new to controversy. Earlier in March 2026, he had urged followers to donate “the first tenth of their gross income” to support his ministry and its causes, including funding projects in Israel, which he faced online trolling. In February 2026, he urged his conference attendees to give a “sacrificial seed” in support of the ministry of his friend Eddie James, asking everyone to donate $1,000. “If you say, ‘I don’t have it,’ give $100. Bring a sacrificial seed,” she said. White-Cain, a televangelist, was appointed as Trump’s special advisor for the Faith and Opportunity Initiative, a position created within the White House Office of Public Liaison in 2019. Her relationship with Trump dates back to 2002 when she became his spiritual advisor. In 2017, she delivered the invocation at his inauguration ceremony, becoming the first female clergy member to do so.
