The love story between Prince William’s parents has been one for the history books, even described as ‘tight’ by his own mother, the late Princess Diana, due to ‘the three of us’, but it seems that very wound is one that the heir now holds close to his heart.
This deeply personal insight into Prince William’s feelings comes from the first documentary he and Kate have collaborated on with royal writer Russell Myers in decades.
The title of the book reads, William and Catherine: The new era of the monarchy: the inside story And since its release the author has appeared in several interviews, the most notable of which was marie claire Which happened recently.
During a conversation there, he said Prince William was determined not to let history repeat itself or act like his parents. According to Mr Myers it is something that has been close to William’s heart “since he was old enough to remember the turmoil and chaos that existed in his parents’ relationship”. In light of this, he also made a personal promise to himself, which comes across in this conversation as a ‘quiet determination’ to ‘break the cycle of suffering’.
After all as he explains, “William had spent years worrying about whether he was making choices that would make his mother proud. At the forefront of his mind were her words about the options he had for finding a long-lasting love.”
Regarding the interviews given by his parents and King Charles admitting infidelity, Mr. Myers says, “The day after King Charles’s unusually candid interview with broadcaster Jonathan Dimbleby on June 29, 1994, where he admitted for the first time to his infidelity with (Queen) Camilla, Diana rushed to console 12-year-old William.”
What happened behind those walls was described by Diana herself in her Panorama interview and saw her say, “I went to school and told William, specifically, that if you find someone in life that you love you should stick with them and look after them, and if you’re lucky enough to find someone who loves you you should protect them.”
As far as Prince William’s love story is concerned, after such a checkered childhood, he got married to Kate Middleton, who is now the queen-in-waiting and senior member of the British royal family. The couple have three children, England’s future King Prince George and his siblings Princess Charlotte and Prince Louis.
