I think I feel most confident and look my most attractive when my hair has this messy, bed-head volume… A loose version of myself is my most attractive hair.
What would you say are the essentials?
Volumizing Spray It’s amazing. I just line my roots with it, and it adds so much volume. If I had to pick one product to give me sexy, loose hair, this is the main ingredient.
I feel like you’re known for that 90s supermodel, bouncy style. Do you have any blowout tips?
Oh, my god. Okay, that would sound terrible. I’m pretty bad at my own blowouts, but I have a hack. I used to do this even when I had no money in New York. I used to get (salon blowouts) once a week, and it lasted four or five days for me because I just put texturizing spray, put some volume spray, and then as time went on it got even sexier. fortunately, with baywatch I’m getting more glamorous every day, so I’m going to make those blowouts last. It’s good because we’re on the beach, we’re in the ocean, so the hair gets salty. This is the lived-in blowout (which I love).
I try to keep my hair low maintenance. I’ll get up, hit it with a brush, hit it with texturizing spray, maybe a little dry shampoo, and that’s it. (John Frieda’s) is my favorite right now. I’m literally just using one product and tinkering around a bit.
love it. Do you think you’ll ever change your signature look? Any attempts to go back to brunette, or any other methods you think you could experiment with?
I think as my style evolves, and as I enter new eras or new roles, I will change it. I’ve never been a big crafty girl, so I guess it’ll always be a bit of a downer. That’s when I feel most confident.
I completely agree. I’m not a very laid back person either, so I guess.
I have a sister, and I get it – she understands it very well. But I can’t.
This interview is for a Who What Wear series called Unfiltered, so I obviously need to hear your unfiltered beauty thoughts. What would you say are your top three beauty hot takes?
so tough. Okay, I know everyone loves natural-girl glamour, like “no-makeup makeup”, but I’m from the South. I grew up in pageant culture, and I love the whole performance. I don’t care what anyone says. I like to do my own makeup and go out. I’m a little more extreme. I think it looks good when people wear minimal makeup, but this is my favorite idea.
What else don’t I like right now? I don’t like that everyone thins their eyebrows.
Yes, I’m always hesitant to follow brow trends, because they move around so quickly.
I know, and then sometimes the hair doesn’t come back, so you have to be careful.
Well, I love what you said about full glam. Speaking of, if you had to leave the house in five minutes, what are some beauty products you would either apply or bring with you?
Of course, I will bring John Frieda Volume Lift Push-Up Texture Spray. (Living on the beach) and running around, that’s all you need. I will bring Charlotte Tilbury’s Airbrush Powder Because it’s the best, and I’ll bring it clarins lip oil-My current favorite right now.
I like him too. What do you love about it?
I just love the Applicator. It’s that simple. The product is very juicy, and lasts a long time. I feel like with lip oils, I absorb them very quickly, and it really lasts.
You famously mentioned love your nader That you like to use your sisters’ toothbrush. Do you also share beauty products?
Hi God. I mean, we share everything. Everything is fair in our family. Our getting ready routine is that we all go to one bathroom together. It doesn’t matter how big a house we’re preparing in, we’re on top of each other. We say, “Wait a minute, what is this? Is this new to your kit?” Like, steal everything. So whenever any of us gets a new product, it is a part of all our daily routine.
Lots of fun. Have they noticed something in your bag recently that you guys have started changing?
I have these little perfumes—I carry them everywhere—and they’re gone. Like, every time I go to the drawer to find them, they’re completely gone. And of course they deny it. They say, “No, that was you, you don’t remember. You have ADD.” I’m like, “No, it was you!” I’m going to install some secret cameras to bust them.
You should do it! What perfume was that?
It is a French brand. They sent me, like, a billion samples. It is called the Maison d’Etto. it’s so amazing. mine is called Durban JaneIf I’m not mistaken, but they have four or five different options, and they’re all amazing. I think, I get a lot of compliments and so do my sisters.
What kind of fragrances are you generally attracted to, and does it match your signature scent?
One of a kind! I mean, I’m everywhere. I have the top three or four, and it’s a little more fleshy than floral, but I like it.
ok, moving forward baywatch. Are there any on-set beauty tips you can share?
We started filming this week and it’s been a dream. It’s spray sunscreen that the makeup artist is using on me. It is amazing as it provides a slight glow to your body. it’s just Neutrogena From CVS. It’s almost body glow mixed with sunscreen, and I’ve become addicted to it. And then my makeup artist in New York said, “Oh, I use this all the time for the red carpet.” So that’s one thing.
Oh that’s interesting. You wouldn’t think that sunscreen would be a red carpet staple.
I know! This is madness. It is very beautiful and looks very natural.
I’ll bring mine too john frieda spray On set, and (the hairstylist) absolutely love it. “This thing is amazing,” he says. So I gave them a bottle to keep in my trailer.
Now, let’s move on to skin care. You’ve always been so open about the cosmetic treatments you’ve had, which people really appreciate. What have you done recently – whether it’s a high-tech facial, a type of Botox, or an injection – that you would say was 100% worth it?
Oh! You know, I’m going LA Facialist (Candace Marino), now that I’m here, and she did this thing on me called liquid microneedling. This is so crazy. It’s almost like a balm that she applies, and then it becomes pearly and a little rough. It does what microneedling does without the downtime. I’m kind of obsessed with it and I’ve never heard of it. I was afraid to try it, but it was amazing.
I’ve actually done this before! Did you find that it hurt?
felt terrible! She was like, “It’s not bad.” And then after that, my face was on fire. was yours?
Yes, and every time you touch it, you can feel little spikes! But it was so worth it.
I know, every time I touched my face, the question that came to my mind was, “Are there needles in me?” It was worth it. I felt like it changed my skin.
And as we head into summer, what summer beauty trends are you looking forward to following this season?
I’m going to try wearing more sunscreen. Last summer, I just went out. I was like, whatever! (laughs) It’s horrible to me, so I’m going to work on it.
Wonderful. Well, this is a question we end all of our Unfiltered interviews with: What is your unfiltered beauty philosophy in seven words or less?
I would say there is more. More treatments—within one line. I recently talked about how, when I was very young, I did some stupid things and had some surgeries. Now I’ve done all that, and I’m turning everything upside down. I mixed all my filling. I’m becoming more natural in that sense, but I’m doing all the facials, lymphatic drainage, and all the treatments without going too far.
And full glam, like you said. More is more.
yes why not? I love it. Sorry, I really like the way I look when I’m in full swing!
