Dan Levy, the mastermind behind Schitt’s Creek, whose last season made a splash at the Emmys, is now introducing fans to a new show: Big Mistakes on Netflix.
Yet the question remains whether he feels pressure to repeat the success of the hit sitcom.
However, in a new interview with CBS News, he responded, “No, I wouldn’t let it in. I don’t think you can.”
“And you really have to close the door on that and almost accept the fact that, if that’s the big crown jewel, then fantastic. How wonderful! Everything else has to be something that makes me feel good.”
Back on Big Mistakes, Levy shared that the show is currently under production, while when asked about the idea for the show, he said, “It came from my fear that I would get stuck. I love my freedom!”
The crime comedy tells the story of a New Jersey pastor and his sister who accidentally become entangled in organized crime.
Levi imagines himself in real time if such a scenario occurs; He shares, “I just know that if I was ever tasked with helping a criminal organization, I would be the biggest liability. So, for me, it was a very fun place to start.”
As far as the series’ casting is concerned, Taylor Ortega plays Levi’s sister, and Laurie Metcalf plays his mother.
Big Mistakes will be Levy’s first project since Schitt’s Creek, in which he will star and co-write.
This series will be released on Netflix on April 9.
