According to Radar Online, Bruce Willis is reportedly facing one of the toughest chapters of his life.
The Die Hard star is living with frontotemporal dementia, a brain condition that affects behavior, language and memory.
According to his wife Emma Heming Willis, the actor does not recognize that he is ill due to anosognosia, a neurological condition that prevents patients from understanding their own diagnosis.
“She never told me she had this disease, and I’m really happy about that. I’m really happy she doesn’t know about it,” Emma said.
“People think it might be denial, like they don’t want to go to the doctor because they’re saying, ‘I’m fine, I’m fine,'” he said. “But it’s really the anosognosia that comes into play. It’s not denial. Their brain is changing. It’s part of the disease.”
Noting that Bruce Willis is actually “very present in his body” more than two years after his diagnosis.
Emma also revealed, “He has a way of connecting with me and our kids — not the same as before, but it’s still so beautiful.”
“It’s still very meaningful. It’s just different. You learn how to adapt,” he said.
