The latest Galaxy S series phones are getting a monthly security patch. Which is quite light, and makes us want something better.
Samsung’s April security update spotted early Tarun Vatsa on XWhich reports that the patch is making its rounds in India (via). Android Authority). Watts says this update is vS948BXXS2AZCL for the Galaxy S26, S26 Plus, and S26 Ultra. My colleague Sanuj Bhatia has seen the update on his Galaxy S26, and says others should see a ~560MB download. The publication claimed that the update was spotted in Europe as well as India earlier this week, with South Korea likely to receive the update late last week.
According to Sanuj’s screenshots, Samsung’s changelog for this month is incredibly light. The company only mentions security improvements, and even then, it’s very little. “The device is protected with enhanced security” is all it mentions. The strange thing is that Samsung hasn’t even updated it security update logwhich usually gives a description of each vulnerability, “high” or “medium”, as it is being fixed for Galaxy phones.

The log is still stuck on March 2026. Instead, we can hope that Android Security Bulletin To see the overall Android improvements coming in April. A “critical” framework fix, marked CVE-2026-0049, is underway. But, still, April seems pretty light in terms of improvements. US versions of the April patch may start appearing as soon as this weekend, given that India and Europe are updating right now – keep your eyes peeled.
April rain does not bring proper solution?
Android Authority also chimed in on this (and it’s hard not to), as the April patch didn’t specifically mention the Galaxy S26 Ultra camera fix. In case you missed it, users in South Korea reported it The new Ultra’s telephoto lens has a strange, “blurry” problem. In particular, the device’s telephoto becomes blurry at 3x zoom; However, 1x, 2x and 5x are fine. The user expressed his displeasure over this, after taking it for repair, only to discover that the problem is likely software-based.
Samsung responded by saying the issue is known and a fix is underway. The only issue is that we don’t know When? that’ll be.
So, while we were waiting for it, there were rumors that Samsung’s Galaxy S26 FE had appeared in the Geekbench database for its performance tests. It was reportedly seen with the Exynos 2500 chip (2025) and not the current Exynos 2600. Despite this, it scored 2,426 in single-core test and 8,004 in multi-core test.

Overall, this is a very good security patch. As you’d expect, security fixes are coming, it’s just that I don’t know what they are, so I can tell you what they are. It’s nice to see all the changes and point out those that may particularly impact the user. I’m not really surprised that the Galaxy S26 Ultra camera fix isn’t here. In my experience, it takes a while for Samsung to introduce this thing. Here’s hoping May will be different… until?
