King Charles is reportedly struggling to distance himself from his disgraced brother Andrew as he continues to call him after he was kicked out of the Royal Lodge.
It is said that the monarch was forced to manage contacts with the former Duke of York behind the scenes.
An insider revealed that Charles is trying to strike a careful balance when dealing with Andrew’s repeated advances as cutting him off completely could risk escalating tensions.
According to sources, the monarch is handling the matter with caution in an effort to prevent potential fallout and protect the stability of the broader institution.
He said, “Every time Andrew makes contact, it pulls Charles back into a situation he’s trying very hard to remove himself from.”
The source added, “This is not something he can easily ignore or turn off, even if that’s what he would prefer, because of Andrew’s constant need to manage and put a stop to any potential fallout.
“It’s an extremely delicate balancing act. Charles knows that cutting Andrew off completely could make things worse, so he’s trying to control the situation rather than inflame it.
The difficulty is that the more pressure Andrew applies – whether through demands about his accommodation or continued contact – the greater the risk it creates, not only for him but also for others associated with him.
“That’s what makes it so frightening, and why Charles is handling it so carefully in an effort to protect the stability of the broader institution.”
