Spotify’s new update focuses on “intent” and tries to move away from the passive consumption model seen on other platforms. According to the company, the new toggles provide a much-awaited layer of customization. Whether you want to save data, drain less battery, or just stay focused on your music, you can now choose what will work for you.

The first phase of the rollout begins today and targets family plan members. Parents and plan owners can now turn video content on or off for any plan member through Subscription Settings. Previously, Spotify only offered it for children’s accounts (under 13), but now it is available for the entire family.
The second phase of the rollout is coming later this month: The new controls will then become available to all users. Whether you’re on the Free, Personal, Duo, or Student plan, you can find these options in your settings, expanding the customization for everyone.
